Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Posted on November 3, 2020November 2, 2020 by theflogblog

It’s election day! I still need to drop off my ballot, but I struggled a lot with this year’s election. I’m not ecstatic about either party. The issue with electing a president is that you are voting based on promise. Promises that may or may not come to fruition. Voting in a presidential election is a lot like marriage. You’re trusting that what they’re promising will pan out. The truth is we have no idea what we are getting until we sign the marriage certificate or submit that ballot.

I think a lot of people get so worked up over the less than admirable things our presidents do and I can certainly relate. The last several presidents, I could complain about many things they did or said that I didn’t agree with. The thing to remember is that whoever is in office will never make every single person happy. You can’t fight for one party’s rights without infringing on the rights of another party. And I think in some cases, people make promises they intend to keep, but are unable to do so in the end.

I want to see the best in people. Maybe that’s why I married my ex. I tried to search for the good there and sometimes, I think he really wanted to deliver on his promises. He wanted to be a man, provide for a family, and do good by me. But in the end, he just couldn’t deliver. I think this happens in politics as well. Politicians make promises they can’t always follow through on. The good news is that it isn’t permanent. Presidential terms eventually end so the person we vote for will not be president forever. And despite what we all think when we say “I do”, marriage also can come to an end if we want it to. If you’re with someone who made empty promises, regardless of good intentions, it’s never too late to bow out.

Good luck to us all as a country! Happy Election Day!
